Interesting. I actually just read a profile in the New Yorker from 1950 (Googling the piece after your reference) in which the reporter Lillian Ross spends most of the weekend with Papa and his wife Mary in Manhattan as they prepare to sail to Venice, Italy. There are appearances by Marlene Dietrich, Patrick Hemingway and Charles Scribner. A fascinating glimpse into Hemingway's peripatetic life. And, boy, does his alcoholism shine through. In the article, Hemingway is drinking double bourbons at the airport bar immediately upon landing in NYC, followed by several glasses of champagne at the hotel. Later, he's taking swigs from a flask at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and again more champagne during a meeting with Scribner. Crazy. At any rate, thanks for reading. I read a couple of your stories as well. You've had an interesting life, to be sure. Be well and take care.
Here's the New Yorker article to which I'm referring. Is this the same one you have a copy of?
