I wouldn't say that the photo you're referring to is hair raising. Rather, it's downright soul-searing. Big difference. And if you could maybe find time to read my book Midair, you'd find that, yes, the Vietnam War was an enormously misguided waste of blood and treasure by the United States from start to finish. No argument there. Nevertheless, it is indeed hair-raising to have a missile whiz a few feet from your plane at 3,500 mph.
