Great article. In the past year, I've traveled to Uzbekistan, Turkey and Morocco, among other more traditional locales. Without fail, I'm peppered with questions like, "Oh my god, weren't you scared? Uzbekistan? Where is that? It sounds dangerous." I then chuckle and remind people that we live in America, where the danger of getting randomly shot at the supermarket is exponentially higher than just about any other place on the planet. And, yes, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Morocco are each amazing places, well worth the time and effort to visit, and, yes, very welcoming and safe.
